What the restaurant needed
A new restaurant with a strong story (a BBC MasterChef finalist bringing Mithila fish cooking to Kathmandu) needed a site that could carry that story, show the food and the room, collect press coverage as it came in, and let staff keep it fresh without calling a developer.
The public site
- Home, About, Menu, Gallery, News and Contact pages in React, with client-side routing and a branded 404 page.
- The menu lists each dish with its description, price and guest rating count, and filters by Starters, Special Fish Items, Main Course, Traditional Sides and Drinks.
- The gallery groups photos from the opening ceremony, the open kitchen and the team, and filters by category.
- The news page has a featured story, press coverage, chef updates, restaurant news and events, each filterable.
The admin site
- A separate login-protected admin for the restaurant's team, backed by a Node.js API and a database.
- Staff upload gallery photos (image uploads handled by the server) and write, edit and publish news and press stories.
- Changes show up on the public site without a redeploy.
